With Auto Photo Fix II software built into the printer, one can easily correct and edit images for printing through the 1.8 inch LCD of the printer. The Dual Color Gamut Processing Technology is also present in the machine to maintain the quality of a document original when using the scanner. Available with the unit are compatible memory cards to add to the computer printing options of the printer.

The overall verdict:
Overall, the customer rating for the Canon PIXMA MP490 Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer was excellent. There were some complaints about how slow the paper loads for printing as well as the noisy printing process that it undergoes. However, outside these downsides, the functionality is good and it serves its purpose as a fax machine, copier, printer, and scanner. Some other complaints noted the poor paper tray design and the relatively expensive replacement ink toner, despite the very low price for the actual unit itself. But in general it makes for a handy piece of equipment at the home or the office that is easy to use and install and to produce great photo prints.
