Inkjet Color Printer

Inkjet or Laser?
The first question is which type of printer would be most suitable for you, for home users the biggest difference between inkjet and laser printers is the price, with color laser printers being very expensive.
Speed and quality used to be major factors but nowadays some inkjet color printers can print over 20 pages a minute and have such a high resolution that they can produce images with enormous clarity.
Unless you need to print a very large amount of work then an inkjet color printer should be ideal for the home user or in a small home office scenario.
Some lingo that you will come across when searching for the perfect inkjet color printer for your needs.
DPI - Dots Per Inch (Resolution)
This is a measurement commonly used to describe the quality of printers, it refers to how many pixels per square inch that it is able to print, the higher the DPI the smoother the quality of the image.
PPM - Pages Per Minute
This describes how many pages the printer is capable of producing in one minute, this is normally quoted with separate figures for black and color pages.
USB - Universal Serial Bus
This refers to the interface (connection type) that the printer uses to transfer data between it and the PC, USB printers are easier to install, with the installation usually being a matter of simply plugging it in, inserting the manufacturer's disk and off you go.
Parallel Port (LPT)
This again refers to the interface the printer uses, it is generally slower than a USB interface.
